Todarov suggests there is a common narrative structure - He wrote eight different story lines that are used throughout most movies:

1. The quest (Lord of the Rings)

2. Redemption (Hummingbird)

3. Journey to Another World (Ferris Bueller) - X

4. The Beast transformed by love - X

5. Solving of Riddles - X

6. Biter-bit (Oppressed who rise up - V for Vendetta)

7. Stranger Saviour - X 

8. Rise and Fall (American Hustle)
